I have been reminded today that I have a blood relative named Alice McKenzie who wrote a book ‘Pioneers of Martins Bay’ (1948?), a remote town at the top of Fiordland in New Zealand’s South Island. My growing desire to write finds some comfort in knowing that there are others related to me who have written too. Looking a little into the national archives too, and it looks like it was a fairly rough life (see image). On that search for info, I found this great site: the Encyclopedia of New Zealand.

So anyway, this has aroused my curiosity, I might see if I can get hold of the book, but it’s hardly something I will find on Amazon. Having said that though, I’ve had some progress via. a website for a rare-book store in Christchurch. I’m going to see if I can have a look into this Alice McKenzie, see what kind of stuff she’s made of!

Watch this space.

I uploaded this using the BloggerforWord app and it rocks!
So. Here we go:

Reverberating

bells ring and groans from within
this wood and steel
reverberating

step up and speak your voice is calling
step up and sing your gift is
open, not unravelling
and the giver is anticipating
step up

a moment come, a time to speak
(if necessary use words)
for bells ring and groans come from within
this wood and steel
reverberating

it’s quite simple really
it lights you up inside
bells ring and groans come from within
this life and song
reverberating

My mate Joe sent me an email about his blog which he has just started. That email, and blog, reminded me that I love writing, that I love sharing my thoughts with, well, the air – the space out there – and whoever happens to be listening.

I’ve been up to a lot since my last blog, and I haven’s said a word about it. Shocking.

I have posted quite a bit at the U2 New Zooland Forums, and also started a new ‘Vertigo Auckland’ blog to be a bit of a portal for the various events and thoughts surrounding the Auckland U2 gig. What makes that even more curious is that I won’t even be at the gig. I was, however, at the New York gig, Madison Square Garden, November 22, and I must tell more about that soon.

I’ve just come back from Paris too – something else to write about.

Stay tuned.
